Kevin Talbutt is a Director in the Data Governance, Technology Solutions and Forensics practice, located in FRA’s London office. He brings years of experience conducting complex, sensitive and large-scale digital forensic investigations.
Kevin has led and designed the digital forensics and eDiscovery strategy for hundreds of examinations, multi-national investigations, and regulatory or litigation responses. These include breach of contract, counterfeiting (pharmaceutical products and software), IP theft, price fixing and unauthorised access to computer systems. Owing to his broad range of expertise with regulators and authorities across matters such as financial crime and fraud, Kevin is well-versed in putting in place defensible protocols for the preservation, collection, processing and transfer of multiple datasets and jurisdictions.
Kevin regularly leads forensic data collections, covering a range of different computer systems and media. He is adept at leveraging and deploying advanced technologies to provide forensic analyses that underpins the digital evidence, large-scale electronic disclosure procedures and onsite investigations. He has worked with large volumes of different types of data including voice, email, chat and trade data. Examples of high profile cases include the processing, searching and e-review management of multi-terabytes of email data on the News Of The World phone hacking investigation, and price fixing allegations for the Office of Fair Trading.
Kevin previously performed a group-wide role at a leading insurance company, working with investigation teams spanning the company and deploying new technologies to meet the business’ needs. He designed and delivered an in-house digital forensics and electronic data management function, as well as embedding group-wide processes and operating standards for the development and provision of digitally-focused investigations. This included digital and mobile forensics, electronic data management, network and log-based investigations and open-source intelligence.
Kevin’s deep technical knowledge, end-to-end case management and jurisdictional experience combined with the ability to lead large teams, manage multiple stakeholders, and problem-solving skills means that he is able to deliver compelling and well thought out solutions to complex problems.
