Simona Bernasconi is a Data Governance, Technology Solutions and Forensics Manager based in FRA’s Zurich office. She has significant experience in data acquisition, transfer and preservation, processing, filtering, and analysing both structured (data analytics) and unstructured (eDiscovery) datasets, particularly for clients in the banking, manufacturing, pharmaceutical and insurance sectors. Data privacy matters are integral aspects of Simona’s expertise.
Prior to joining FRA, Simona worked for a big four. She was responsible for processing and analyzing complex data sets involving leading Swiss and international companies covering DOJ, SEC, and FINMA mandated reviews. She has had advanced experience with complex banking data structures during OFAC, EU, and UN sanctions screening exercises. She was also responsible for implementing an accounting data search platform using the technology Elasticsearch.
Simona has end-to-end experience in large investigation review environments, from setting up a review platform and establishing a review workflow methodology to reporting and final productions. In addition, she has hands-on experience with multiple device data acquisitions, characterized by hardware disassembly, hard drive cloning, data extraction, data image validation and filtering, including the documentation of the acquisition process following defensible protocols.
Simona is a Relativity Certified Administrator (RCA) and holds a Master of Law in Legal Issues, Crime and Security of Information Technologies (Intelligence and Forensic Science) degree from the University of Lausanne. She is a native Italian speaker, is fluent in French and English, and has advanced knowledge of German.
