William Mui is a Director at FRA based in New York City. He is a data analytics and forensic services professional with more than 15 years of experience designing and delivering analytics-driven solutions involving data management, data analytics, data science, and advanced analytics and modelling for investigations, compliance, and litigation matters.
William specializes in leading cross-functional teams and helping clients leverage analytics and technology to respond to regulatory and investigative inquiries and to enhance proactive compliance monitoring and analytics capabilities. His expertise includes matters concerning regulatory compliance, corporate fraud, FCPA, anti-bribery/anti-corruption, AML and sanctions, compliance monitorships, compliance monitoring, conflicts of interest, asset misappropriation, third party due diligence, policies and procedures, and risk management. He has worked closely with clients and counsel across the financial services, banking, technology, life sciences, healthcare, insurance, oil and gas, real estate, construction, and media and entertainment industries.
William has directed forensic accounting and data analytics services on corporate compliance monitorships, fraud and risk assessments, compliance reviews, and AML and financial investigations globally pertaining to allegations of bribery and corruption with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).
Prior to FRA, William was a Senior Manager at EY on the Forensic and Integrity Services team where he led several high-profile investigations and managed the design and implementation of monitoring and analytics solutions to proactively monitor, mitigate, and remediate compliance and legal risk. Additionally, William worked closely with counsel and testifying experts to design analytics and studies to support expert report and testimony on numerous pharmaceutical litigation matters relating to allegations of improper promotional, marketing, and sales practices and kickbacks by the DOJ pursuant to the False Claims Act (FCA), the Anti-kickback Statute (AKS), and the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FDCA).
William has a Bachelor of Science in Operations Research and Information Engineering with concentrations in Finance and Engineering Management from Cornell University. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
