We are delighted to be shortlisted in two categories for the GIR Awards 2020. We have once again been nominated for Investigations Consultancy of the Year, as well as in connection with the Airbus settlement under the award category Most Important Development in the practice or law of international investigations.
Investigations Consultancy of the Year
GIR said, “Forensic Risk Alliance’s (FRA) year is headlined by the forensic accounting services it provided as part of the record-breaking Airbus bribery investigation. The company agreed to pay $3.9 billion in January to resolve bribery investigations by French, UK and US authorities. In another notable matter from the past year, FRA has been working with Clifford Chance to investigate allegations of money laundering and sanctions breaches by Swedish bank Swedbank. Sweden’s financial supervisory authority fined Swedbank $380 million in March and the bank is facing scrutiny from US authorities.”
We would like to give special thanks to our clients who nominated us for this award.
Most Important Development of the Year in the Practice or Law of International Investigations
We are delighted to announce that FRA, alongside counsel to Airbus, has been recognized for our role as forensic consultants in the record-breaking Airbus settlement, which has been nominated for Most Important Development in the Practice or Law of International Investigations in this year’s GIR awards.
GIR said, “Airbus entered into the largest foreign bribery settlement of all time in January when it agreed to pay $4 billion to authorities in France, the UK and US to resolve allegations of bribery offences in 16 countries as well as arms control breaches. The case is notable not only for the eye-watering size of the financial penalties but because it sets a new high watermark for international cooperation as the first publicly documented case where the SFO, PNF, DOJ and the US State Department’s Directorate of Defense Trade Controls coordinated their investigations and subsequent resolutions.”
FRA Founding Partners Toby Duthie and Greg Mason, and Partners Yousr Khalil, Rob Mason, Simon Taylor, Rik Workman and Charlie Patrick have been named as part of the team which led the extremely complex multinational investigation that covered more than a dozen jurisdictions, alongside expert white collar and export control practitioners from Dechert, Clifford Chance, August Debouzy, Paul Hastings and Arnold & Porter.
We would like to congratulate our fellow team members within these firms and thank GIR for the nomination.
FRA’s history of nominations in the GIR Awards
2019 – SHORTLIST – FRA shortlisted for Investigations Consultancy of the Year
GIR commented, “It has been yet another stellar year for FRA, which found work on some of the most complex cross-border cases. It conducted an internal investigation for the embattled Swedish bank, Swedbank, which is tied up in a continent-wide money laundering scandal. FRA published its results in March. The firm also conducted the forensic analysis for Swedish telecoms company, Telia, before it paid the final chunk of a $965 million trilateral resolution to the Netherlands in March, following an investigation carried out by Swedish, Dutch and US authorities.”
2018 – SHORTLIST – FRA shortlisted for Investigations Consultancy of the Year
GIR commented, “The firm is a consulting powerhouse that has been instructed on some of the most high-profile investigations of recent times, including on bribery probes into Rolls-Royce and Telia.”
2017 – WINNER – FRA wins Investigations Consultancy of the Year
