Challenge

FRA was retained by counsel to assist a client performing a due diligence exercise in connection with purchasing an oil and gas producer in West Africa. The assets and systems under review were in a remote area and the scheduled period of support from the seller’s IT team was close to an end, which added significant pressure to complete the analysis within a short time frame.

Action

FRA moved quickly to meet IT and Finance staff to gain a comprehensive understanding of the client’s infrastructure and systems, in order to find an optimal solution that would be highly cost effective. Our approach utilized a remote connection directly into the client’s server, thereby enabling us to pull data into our data center for analysis with minimal external support required. Within a week, FRA had processed and analyzed five years of data verifying completeness and flagging anomalous transactions. Working in parallel with the FRA forensic accounting team, the finalized report was delivered ahead of schedule.

Solution

The project demonstrated FRA’s nimbleness in designing cost effective solutions in the context of significant logistical and time pressures. By applying our comprehensive expertise with a wide variety of both common and bespoke Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, we were able to save the client time and costly field work.
