Gregory Capello is the Global Director of Information Technology and Security for FRA. He is a certified data privacy expert, holding the prestigious Certified Information Privacy Professional / Europe (CIPP/E) and Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) certifications from the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
Greg leads a team responsible for the IT infrastructure and security of FRA’s six highly available global data centers. He has a proven history of aligning technology with strategic goals to maximize profits and security while minimizing costs. He is highly skilled in all areas of the IT Technology Stack, with particular expertise in the areas of server virtualization and storage.
Throughout his eight years with FRA, Greg has upgraded FRA’s data centers into enterprise-class, highly scalable, redundant, and secure facilities using state-of-the-art IT systems. He spearheaded FRA’s expansion into Canada and Sweden, establishing data centers in those locations, and has managed more than 16 data center moves and buildouts throughout his lengthy career.
He excels at analytical problem solving in high-pressure situations, and has developed several custom client environments for highly sensitive client matters involving Top Secret / Nationally Sensitive data sets.
Greg designed and built a custom portable eDiscovery review solution to enable FRA to provide end-to-end EDRM project support from behind the client’s firewall. This mobile server provides more storage capacity than any competitor in the industry. He has deployed more than 20 of these systems for FRA clients, including six for a leading aerospace corporation facing a France Parquet National Financier (PNF), UK Serious Fraud Office (SFO), and US Department of Justice (DOJ), inquiry.
Greg leads FRA’s ISO certification and accreditation efforts, and achieved successful ISO 27001:2013 certification in 2015 and re-certification in 2018. He is instrumental to FRA’s ISO 17025 accreditation process, an elite computer forensics laboratory accreditation which only a few firms have achieved in Europe. He is charged with ensuring FRA’s compliance with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) from an IT Infrastructure and Security perspective.
Greg has over 20 years of experience architecting, implementing, and supporting enterprise data center operations for global companies in a variety of industries including Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, Industrial Control Systems (ICS), and Software as a Service (SaaS). Prior to joining FRA he was responsible for the system design and architecture of a global manufacturing environment across nine facilities in six countries in North America and Europe for a major global biotech company. He also was responsible for a SaaS environment that maintained a 99.999% uptime rate for a client base spanning multiple Fortune 100 companies and millions of global users.
Greg is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. He is based out of FRA’s Providence, RI office.
