FRA was retained by US counsel to assist a life sciences firm assigned under a Deferred Prosecution Agreement (DPA) related to violations of the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). The company had struggled to successfully navigate a previous, similar DPA and needed a global view into compliance related information spread over 40+ disparate Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems worldwide. Facing mounting costs and reputational risk, the client needed to simultaneously transform the effectiveness of its monitoring program and develop the tools to report insights to stakeholders within tight deadlines.
Prioritizing the monitor’s data requests, FRA worked with counsel and the client to design workflows to provide accurate and useable responses to the monitor’s numerous requests. Partnering with the client’s IT and Finance staff, FRA helped the client build enduring processes and a robust set of compliance tools from heterogeneous data sources, including ledger transactions, Know-Your-Client (KYC) data and employee expenses.
Our work demonstrated how FRA combines data analytics acumen with class leading forensic accounting expertise to assist clients in complex matters. It also showcased our abilities with data warehouse architecture, cross-border data privacy, data integrity, ERP structures, and data visualization. By focusing on process and not specific tools, FRA was able to help the client efficiently transition away from data silos toward meaningful insights that are demonstrable to external regulators and corporate leadership.
