Prior to joining FRA, Patrick spent four years at Chainlink Labs, where he was the first dedicated hire in the blockchain intelligence and financial security function, helping build the program from the ground up. He led forensic analyses and investigations involving cryptocurrency transactions, cross-chain bridge activity, custody oversight, treasury operations, and other on-chain security matters, working closely with legal, finance, security, and executive stakeholders to assess risk and support strategic decision-making.
Previously, as an Investigator at Chainalysis, Patrick specialized in complex cryptocurrency investigations involving decentralized finance (DeFi), fraud, darknet markets, and other illicit activity, developing deep expertise in tracing funds across blockchain ecosystems, attributing previously unidentified wallets to threat actors and services, and delivering blockchain investigation training to law enforcement, regulators, and private sector organizations.
- ICO Fraud Prosecution: Led the on-chain investigation and contributed analysis to the expert testimony in a landmark federal criminal prosecution involving allegations of wire fraud, securities fraud and money laundering.
- Law Enforcement Training Program: Co-led Chainalysis Reactor Certification (CRC) courses for law enforcement, regulatory and government personnel, delivering instruction on blockchain tracing methodologies, investigative techniques, and advanced DeFi concepts to more than 100 professionals.
- Asset Tracing and Litigation Support: Conducted a time-critical on-chain investigation, delivering clear, verifiable forensic evidence to legal leadership and outside counsel, helping reduce potential financial exposure for the counsel’s client.
- Blockchain Monitoring Program: Led the development and implementation of a blockchain address screening program for public-facing digital asset products, facilitating the screening of more than 100k wallet addresses across multiple applications and establishing a scalable compliance control for identifying sanctioned and other high-risk blockchain activity.
