FRA retained as part of a DOJ-appointed Independent Monitor team for the City of Ferguson

July 27, 2016

We are proud to announce that FRA's founding partner, Frances McLeod has been retained as part of the Independent Monitor team of Ferguson, under the leadership of Clark Ervin, of Squire Patton Boggs.

The Independent Monitor is in accordance to a Consent Decree between the DOJ and the City of Ferguson after a DOJ investigation uncovered a pattern and practice of unlawful conduct by the Ferguson Police Department and the Ferguson Municipal Court.

FRA will assist Squire Patton Boggs to oversee the implementation of reforms to bring about constitutional and effective policing; to promote officer and public safety; to ensure fundamental fairness and equal treatment regardless of race in the municipal court and to foster greater trust between police officers and the communities they serve.

"I am honored that FRA will be involved in this case that has such an important public service element to it. The appointment also takes FRA back almost full-circle to the human rights/redress work we undertook when the company first started back in 1999," Frances McLeod, Founding Partner, FRA.
