Biography
Gary Carter is an Associate Director in the Data Governance, Technology Solutions, and Forensics team based in FRA’s London office. Gary has amassed years of experience in the field of digital forensics and specializes in electronic data management, forensic collections, data processing, forensic investigation, and analysis. Gary is well-versed in leveraging advanced technologies to provide in-depth analysis of digital evidence and has served as an expert witness in the UK.
Gary has deployed and supported FRA’s Mobile Discovery Solution, providing a scalable end-to-end mobile processing and review platform, in-country, without breaching data constraints or compromising relationships with key stakeholders. His versatile skillset allows him to support these nationally sensitive matters onsite throughout the entire EDRM lifecycle, from identification through to production, devising systematic solutions to intricate and complex problems.
Gary has completed hundreds of forensic data collections across a wide range of electronic media, including computers, mobile devices, unmanned aerial vehicles, email servers, and network storage. He has travelled the world, including Europe, Scandinavia, the Middle East, and Central Asia, to preserve, collect, process and review data in support of litigation, arbitration, regulatory compliance disputes and internal investigations.
In previous roles, Gary conducted comprehensive forensic analysis on cases outsourced by UK law enforcement and has written hundreds of witness statements for cases involving homicide, terrorism, bribery, indecent images of children, IP theft, stalking, kidnapping, and drug trafficking. He has accompanied the UK’s National Crime Agency on arrest warrants to perform onsite triage and has extensive experience working on regulatory matters involving the UK Serious Fraud Office (SFO), US Department of Justice (DOJ), US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the French Parquet National Financier (PNF).
Gary is a Relativity Review Management Specialist, Nuix Workstation Certified Master, FTK Access Data Certified Examiner (ACE), and has been certified in both Encase Computer Forensics I and II. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree with Honours in Computer Forensics from Liverpool John Moores University.
